Yvan Bédard was born in a picturesque village surrounded by mountains, rivers, forests, and fields near Quebec City, Canada. His passion for landscape photography began in his teenage years, and in 2003, he transitioned to digital photography. Since 2009, he has been creating his own fine art prints.
Since 2014, Bédard has been represented by art galleries in Canada and has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Quebec, Athens, Barcelona, London, Melbourne, and New York, among others. His photographs have been regularly published in books and magazines across eight countries, with notable inclusions in prestigious publications. Additionally, his work is featured in both public and private collections worldwide and is often licensed for various uses.
Following a distinguished career as an Emeritus university professor in cartographic database engineering, as well as a scientific author and speaker, Yvan now channels his passion for photography into conferences and teaching courses. His photographic journey mirrors his scientific career in its success, earning recognition in major international competitions with close to 100 awards, including the Minimalist Photography Awards, the Fine Art Photography Awards, the Paris PX3 Prix de la Photographie, and the One Eyeland World Top 10 Photography Awards.
Bédard's commitment to his craft extends to interviews by art and photography magazines, TV, and web productions in Canada, the USA, France, Japan, and Russia. Over 30 papers discussing his photographs have been published in various media outlets. Moreover, his photos have been exhibited in several virtual art galleries in cities like New York, London, and Lyon.
In addition to his photographic achievements, Bédard volunteers for environmental causes and has received several prestigious honors in Canada and the USA for his contributions as a scientist and engineer.
