ANNA WITKOWSKA born in Poland (1976) is an Amsterdam based multidisciplinary artist and photographer. Originally graduated as Ceramics Designer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poland, she finally found her visual language as an artist in autonomous photography and film. Since her graduation from the Amsterdam Photo Academy, The Netherlands (2016) she works as a professional fine art photographer and film maker. In her work she mainly focuses on the fleeting world of time, space and being and she reflects upon our presence in the world.

‘In my photography and film I stage a slowdown of life, through which one can become aware of our existence and of our changing perception of the world around us.

Contemplating the transitory quality of time, space and being, my work tells a story of a human who reflects on his presence.

His relation towards space and the never-ending reflection on his actual place in the world is the main subject in my work.

I display this through the use of human figures, solitary and often multiplied in a certain formation.

To me it reinforces the universal question whether we belong here.’ - Anna Witkowska
